It twirled in the sun, brushing against the tall grass in a silent choreography. A flash of red in the green landscape, vivid like a summer spark.

The blood-red sympetrum (Sympetrum sanguineum), with its slender body and translucent wings, seemed to play with the wind more than defy it. It moved from one blade of grass to the next, barely pausing, always ready to take off again. Its precise, nervous, almost anxious flight traced an ephemeral script in the air.
