Rue de l’Apport, which connects Place des Merciers to Rue de l’Horloge, forms one of the most picturesque medieval complexes in Dinan. The houses visible here, particularly at numbers 1 to 7, date from the 15th and 16th centuries and constitute a rare alignment of houses with porches, the upper floors of which are corbelled and supported by wooden pillars. These overhangs once protected the merchants' stalls from the rain while freeing up circulation space on the ground floor.

Their oak frames, joined with mortise and tenon joints, are filled with mud or brick, while molded and sculpted wall plates run beneath the windows. Some still feature human or animal figures, vestiges of secular decor typical of the late Middle Ages.

Over time, these houses were enhanced or remodeled in the 17th and 18th centuries, but retain their Gothic and Renaissance silhouettes. This neighborhood was once home to numerous artisan shops—weavers, drapers, and goldsmiths—that benefited from the passage to the main shopping street of Rue de l'Horloge. Today, the ground floors house boutiques such as the Bouquinerie du Centre, perpetuating the commercial vocation of the place.

Listed as a cultural heritage site, these houses are among the oldest examples of Dinan's civil architecture and give Rue de l'Apport the character so emblematic of the medieval city.
