The carpenter bee (Xylocopa violacea), a large black silhouette with inky reflections, impresses as much as it fascinates.

Despite its robust build, it forages gently, diving headfirst into the yellow corollas, searching for nectar. The contrast is striking: the dark, shiny mass of its body against the pastel tenderness of the flower. And yet, everything works.
