The third day of the trip took me to Dinan, a medieval gem nestled on the banks of the Rance. The fortified city is approached through the Porte du Guichet, one of its main entrances. Even at the foot of the walls, one feels dwarfed by the might of these tall, imposing stone ramparts, which seem to defy the centuries.

Crossing this archway, it's as if one were crossing a threshold between two worlds: behind me, the modernity of the roads and plains; before me, the striking atmosphere of a still-vibrant medieval city. The heavy stones, marked by time, carry the echoes of the footsteps of merchants, soldiers, and pilgrims who, since the Middle Ages, have trodden this same passage.

The Porte du Guichet, both sober and massive, announces the soul of Dinan: a city where history can be read on every street corner, where the ramparts watch like motionless guardians, witnesses to battles, fairs and a thousand forgotten stories. To enter through this gate is to accept the invitation of a city that reveals itself like an ancient book, where each stone turns a new page.
