She was there, motionless between two blades of foliage, almost invisible in the green of the clump. Only her posture betrayed her presence: erect, rigid, as if in prayer or on guard.

The praying mantis, with its slender silhouette and piercing gaze, always seems to have emerged from another world. And yet, it is here, in the middle of my iris clump, that she has chosen to position herself. Both elegant and formidable, she hardly moves. She waits. Everything about her evokes calm before action, precision, absolute attention.

This furtive encounter captured me, as if an ancient creature had frozen for a moment to observe me in turn. A rare moment, between silent tension and fascination, in the discreet folds of a summer garden.
