Slowly, advancing through the remains of the imperial villa, we approach the entrance to the cave. In this photo, we can more clearly see the monumental entrance to this majestic natural cavity, once part of the lavish scenography desired by Emperor Tiberius.

Atop the pediment, proudly stands a statue of Ganymede, the young mortal abducted by Zeus's eagle, a symbol of ascension and eternity. This mythological figure, both moving and enigmatic, overlooks the entrance as if inviting the visitor to enter another world—a world populated by legends, monumental sculptures, and echoes of an imperial past.

The pale marble contrasts with the rock of the cave and the reflections of the tranquil water in the pools surrounding it. All here is silence, except for the murmur of the wind which seems to tell, even today, of the exploits of Ulysses, the anger of Polyphemus and the feasts of the Caesars.
