At the top of the pediment, a sculpted skeleton immediately catches the eye. In his right hand, he holds a banner bearing the Latin inscription:

« Hodie mihi, cras tibi » — Today for me, tomorrow for you.

This memento mori, common in Baroque religious art, reminds everyone of the fragility of existence and the universality of death. In his left hand, the skeleton holds a chalice, a symbol of redemption and Christian hope: faith alone can save the soul from the purifying fire of purgatory.

Modest in size, but profound in spiritual significance, this church was once an active place of worship, where the brotherhood prayed, held masses for the deceased, and reminded the faithful of the importance of prayer for souls awaiting light.

A poignant testimony to popular piety and the baroque vision of death, frozen in stone, and still visible in the heart of the ancient city.
