For this first evening in Terracina, my destination is a rediscovery of the city, beginning with a stroll through the historic center (Centro Storico), bathed in the mild summer air and the golden light of the streetlights. My goal: to reach the municipal square (Piazza Municipio), the vibrant heart of the old town, to enjoy a coffee granita at the bar located right at the foot of the cathedral, the Caffè del Duomo, an institution founded in 1938 from a former café dating back to 1793.

The impressively noble Duomo di San Cesareo (St. Cesareo Cathedral) proudly sits atop the square. Built in the 12th century on the foundations of an ancient Roman temple, the cathedral harmoniously blends ancient columns, sculpted lions, and medieval decorations. At night, the play of light and shadow reveals all its architectural richness, providing an ideal setting to savor this first moment of tranquility and contemplation, at the slow pace of Italian life.
